Animation can involve bold choices, distinct characters, and voices that don’t exist anywhere else.  I like to be collaborative and playful, exploring tones and accents until the character really clicks.

That said, it’s not all about ‘putting on a voice’.  The key importance is the emotional resonance of what's being said, making sure that we tell the story and hit the right tone.

Drawing on my background as both an animator and director, I have a unique perspective on creating performances for the medium of animation, knowing where to push the voice in a more cartoony direction and where to dial it back.

 

It’s really helpful for me as a performer to know in advance 'what kind of character this is?', 'how they would react to certain situations?' and 'if there are any existing people who could be used as a reference?'.
